Effects of pretreatment with x-rays on paramutability or paramutagenicity of certain R alleles in maize.

چکیده
L I N D E N (1963) first reported that the paramutation process in maize was radiosensitive. He showed that when pollen from plants homozygous for either paramutable standard R' or paramutagenic R alleles such as Rst (stippled aleurone) and Rmb (marbled aleurone) was gamma-irradiated, paramutation was altered in the heterozygotes into which these alleles were subsequently introduced. Evidence is presented here confirming and extending LINDEN'S observations.
